We will specially remember the Countess and her menagerie at the Gardens. The Countess loved animals and had a mini-zoo at Warwick Castle. She brought her baby elephant to Easton Lodge and became a dog breeder and had many aviaries around the Gardens. There will be a storyteller to entertain children with tales of the Countess and her animals (on the hour) and we will feature a local folk duo, Karen and Tony.
Our volunteers will present our history and we will be joined by local coppicers, a local wood turner, the Essex Wildlife Trust and the Woodland Trust. There will be a range of stalls, selling plants, jams and marmalades and garden ornaments, and our beekeepers will be selling honey and beeswax soaps and creams.
Tickets can be booked here. Season ticket holders and Friends of the Gardens will get priority parking. Detailed arrangements will be in place to provide for social distancing around Daisy’s catering outlet and the loos; and to provide hand sanitizer in appropriate places.
Locally sourced bacon, cheese or hummus rolls; homemade cakes; and hot and cold drinks will be available until they run out – or till 4.30pm.
