Henry Maynard and his household and staff will engage visitors in the Tudor history of the Gardens, providing a range of Tudor activities for visitors including armoury, making pomaders and charms, and demonstrating archery and telling stories of the work of a barber surgeon. There will also be the cooking of Tudor food to sample.

There will be music through the day from the Colchester Waits, playing Tudor tunes on a range of instruments including shawms, trumpets, cornetts, sackbutts and fiddles. Lively and authentic!

Children and adults will also enjoy the Gardens in full bloom, the treehouse, a children’s trail and stalls.

Hot bacon/cheese/hummus rolls, homemade cakes and hold and cold drinks.

Adult entry £5.50 if bought in advance or £6.50 on the gate. Advance tickets can be purchased through Trybooking – here.

Children under 16 FREE
Dogs on leads welcome.

Advance tickets will be refunded if the Trust has to decide the Gardens cannot open, due to a significant risk to visitors and volunteers, for example from adverse weather or very poor ground conditions.
