Blousy blossom

What a glorious sight – the cherries in blossom, set against the stunning box hedges in the walled kitchen garden. There is more apple, quince and medlar blossom to come, so lots to enjoy on Blossom Day on 21 April, as well as bluebells, camassia, tulips and the first roses in the Italian Garden.

Volunteers fanned out across the Gardens: building new raised beds for vegetables; starting work on a new Ying Yang (Sarcococca confusa/pebbles) feature in the Japanese style garden; making space and planting new exotics in the Italian garden; sowing grass seed to repair the ground after the February flooding; and much more. And the sun shone – lovely!
