Gardeners smiling at last, in the rain!

Not a huge amount of work got done today, but Sue and a couple of hardy volunteers did some deadheading as the rain poured down. Meanwhile Steve cleared the guttering and reattached loose pipes to the water butts to ensure that we capture as much of the rain as possible.

Hopefully this soaking will enable the grass to grow again – but its downside is that the rain has brought down a limb from a crab apple tree. So far, the apple trees are coping, despite their heavy loads of fruit. We shall have to get on with some early crab apple/apple jelly for the tombola stall at our Apple and Bees Day on 25 September!
