Our seasonal apple and bees day, when visitors can help press apple juice and taste all sorts of apple and orchard produce, including a huge variety of apple cakes. For the first time ever we will have cider on sale from our Easton Countess apples! Visitors will be able to see into the intricate world of bees in a show hive and local beekeepers will have a range of honey and wax products too.
For children there will be apple craft and a children’s trail as well as the opportunity to climb into the treehouse and do den building.
There will be a range of other stalls, including a plant stall, our jam/jelly/chutney tombola, a local wood turner and other crafts; and we will be joined by the East of England Apples and Orchard Project who will identify any apples visitors bring with them; the Friends of Cressing Temple; the Woodland Trust, RSPB and Essex Wildlife Trust.
Music will be provided by Bishop’s Stortford Ukelele Society, at 1.00pm and 2.15pm.
Our volunteers will provide locally sourced bacon, cheese or hummus rolls; homemade cakes; and hot and cold drinks until they run out – or till 4.00pm.
