What a glorious day

We were delighted to be joined today by 11 new volunteers. They were treated to a gorgeous sunny and warm day, of pruning and weed clearance from the lilypond in the Italian garden and sowing of carrots, beetroot and herbs in the walled kitchen garden, as well as homemade cake at coffee time, of course!

The Gardens are looking fabulous, with daffodils everywhere, including the brilliant splash of tete-a-tetes along the top of the Italian garden and the historic naturalised varieties in the Lime Wood. The bees were loving the pink blossom on the peach and nectarine espaliered trees in the kitchen garden and green buds are ready to burst open on the shrubs, bushes and trees. So it was lovely to also welcome visitors, who snapped up the last of the snowdrops in the green. The weather looks set fair for a while, so hopefully next week will be just as glorious – the gates are open for visitors on Thursdays from 11.00 to 3.00, last entry 2.00.
