It was another gorgeous Thursday for volunteers and visitors – sunny and warm. So, we managed to finish most of the season’s tree planting, including a new Taxodium distichum (marsh cypress) in a boggy area at the bottom of the Glade, as well as more spring pruning, tidying and the continuation of the war on garlicky alliums! In the walled kitchen garden we have started to sow veg seeds and sort out the cut flower border.
The daffodils are fantastic this year, but might not last as long as some years, given the heat. And the fruit tree blossom season is underway, with beautiful pink blossom on the nectarines and peaches, and white blossom beginning on the cherry plums and cherries.
