Work goes on

Despite the freezing conditions Neil helped us get some more of our pruning done. It is apples and pears this time of year: progressively pruning the heritage trees into a good shape and with the newer trees working on encouraging them to grow strongly and to fruit well. Of course we will also use the unwanted wood to complete our dead hedge.

The Gardens looked lovely when the sun shone and the cold has crisped up the boggy ground, but it is still extremely wet in the Glade. The snowdrops are somehow withstanding the cold, with many buds poised ready to open when some warmth returns. And the deer are clearly still enjoying whatever shoots/bark they can find.
