Just in time for this Sunday’s Open Day we have completed replanting the lavender hedge along the edge of the croquet lawn. It was a team task – with volunteers going to and fro with wheelbarrow-loads of sand and compost and mulch, careful laying out of the plants and then planting, and watering. Then we stood back and admired it! Hopefully it will get established OK despite the ongoing drought.
Elsewhere around the Gardens there is lots to see – white roses are open high up in the sky at the entrance to the Gardens, wafting sweet perfume; the laburnum walk is at its best; there are also beautiful yellow tree peonies; herbs, alliums and more are in flower in the walled kitchen garden; and the bright pink hawthorne is just coming into blossom in the Glade. Come and see – and this Sunday also enjoy nature activities.
