At last we have more dahlias and some butterflies – this one a painted lady, which are migrants from North Africa, the Middle East and southern Europe and have probably been few and far between this year because of the unusual weather in Europe/wind directions. We also had a few red admirals, lots of whites and more bumblebees than we have had on the lavender. So, hopefully we will find we do still have bats as well, on our Bat Walk on 6 September. Do come and join us.
Yesterday our volunteers made more good progress in tidying the Gardens ready for the big one, our Apples and Bees day on 15 September: cutting the long grass on the margins of the Gardens, tidying the herb beds, weeding the paths, shaping boxes and yews. Put the date in your diary – it is going to be a fun day!
