Glorious weather for pruning and tidying

It was positively warm in the sunshine in the walled kitchen garden and Peto’s Italian Garden this Thursday. So volunteers did a lots of tidying jobs. Pruning the apple and pear trees and roses and tidying the flower border in the kitchen garden – and giving some of them more mulch. Cutting back plants left for the birds and for their structural interest in the Italian garden. Digging up some rogue nettles. Next week we will have to focus on preparing the Gardens for snowdrop open days, on 18, 22, 25 and 29 February.
