We get a lot done on volunteer days at the Gardens – and have fun too! This week we spread out around the Gardens in a big push to tidy up and get ready for this Sunday’s final Open Day of the season. We have picked and cleaned the pumpkins and squashes; prepared exhibitions and children’s activities; and one volunteer has kept herself busy for weeks crocheting elephants and other amigurumi animals for sale. Volunteers have done lots of weeding, in the flower borders and along the boundaries of the Gardens; cutting back growth around trees; and pruning, including getting the Portuguese laurels in the Italian garden into shape.
