A reminder of the Countess’ baby elephant, Kim

This week, we secured this statue in the woods, to tell the story of the Countess’ love of animals. Kim was a baby elephant, which the Countess brought to Easton Lodge. The Countess soon realised Kim was too difficult to look after and so he was taken on the train back to Warwick, to live with an elephant trainer.

Our volunteers have now started preparations for our Apple and Bees day on 19th September – making jam pot covers for the Jam tombola and researching apple cake recipes. And, of course, deadheading and weeding continues, but with time to stop and admire the seasonal butterflies and bees (and spiders!).
