Volunteers worked hard today, tidying the Gardens ready for the first Open Day of the year on 18 April. Maggie and Lesley cleaned the information boards ready for them to be rehung. Primroses now welcome visitors to the Gardens, in the front entrance bed. There was lots of weeding done in the Italian Garden and around it, so the euphorbia and the tulips, which are colouring up, now stand out beautifully. In the walled kitchen garden, there was more weeding, while the grass got a well-needed cut. The fruit blossom is looking fabulous, the peaches and nectarines still and, today, the plums too and the bees and the bee-flies loved it. The Japanese garden was also tidied. After the recent cold weather it definitely felt more like spring!
