The Gardens were gorgeous today: almost peak daffodils and violets, and the first of the cowslips and lots of beautiful blossom.

Sam and Roy worked really hard building this log wall – helped by Steven, carting some of the logs on the Honda that he and Stuart have nursed back to life. The wall has tidied up this back corner of the Gardens and will make a much improved entry to the West Woods.

Meanwhile Tony and Richard made the entrance to the Gardens more welcoming; Clare and Sue did more planting at the bottom of the Glade; Keith and Phil took out more garlicky alliums; Peter and Ann did lots of weeding; Annie pruned the last of the fuscias needing tlc in the Italian garden; and in the walled kitchen garden Sam and Richard continued tidying the dahlia and perennials border, while Terry cut the grass and I planted more veg and started sorting the herb beds.

So it was all go as Catherine and Sue welcomed some potential new volunteers, and then Valerie and Ann showed them round.
