Perfect harmony

We like to think we form good teams at the Gardens… and here Tony, Martin and Roy are working in perfect harmony to level the soil around the base of the new yew hedge, ready for grass seeding by Richard. Sue is confident that the new hedge, which replaced the diseased hedge, will grow really quickly to match the rest, and it already has.

After a really busy final open day, the volunteers could start doing end of season jobs, like manuring roses and maintenance around the loos; and creative stuff too, making a new border along the far edge of the Italian garden.

And we had time for more planning, including further development of the Japanese garden and how to make fullest use of the walled kitchen garden next season.

The autumnal colours keep on coming and the Gardens are a picture – if a bit soggy after all the rain!
