A lovely quiet day

It started with an eye-to-eye with a small, young?, hare (it then then sped off past Daisy’s towards the treehouse). Then I spied a kingfisher zooming away from the Italian Garden (although we emptied the lily pond last year, a few small fish remain – they had probably been hiding in the old water and weed that we returned to the pond to ensure that its ecology would be re-established quickly). And all the while the buzzards were calling out (the young in their nest asking for more food?). We are so lucky to enjoy nature at the Gardens as well as the lovely plants!

It was a quiet day but we got a lot done. We welcomed a few more visitors and two new volunteers. There was more picking of fruit and vegetables and deadheading of flowers. And we received manure ready for the autumn. The Gardens are looking lovely, revived by the rains, and ready for visitors for the upcoming Open Day on 19 July.
