On the hottest July day on record, our plucky volunteers still got stuck in …watering of course, but also grass-cutting, weeding, deadheading and carting a load of manure to the Gardens. It’s got to be done!!
The butterflies were enjoying the warmth even if we weren’t. Loads of peacocks (pupated and hatched already from the caterpillars a few weeks ago?) and whites; and a comma and a red admiral or two. The bees were active, enjoying the lavender and the lime, but our beekeeper says it has not been a good year for honey. Too dry?
We have our fingers crossed for rain over the weekend.
