Main Season Opening Times
Strictly 11.30am to 5pm with last entry at 4pm
Please note the gardens shut promptly and visitors will be asked to leave at this time. If the weather is very bad the gardens may be forced to close early.
Adults: £4.00 Children: Free of Charge
NB: We are unable to accept credit cards but will take cheques.
The Gardens are mainly laid to lawn so, under dry weather conditions, they are reasonably accessible. However, if the weather has been very wet then the lawns tend to become more difficult to negotiate. Carers enter free of charge. Disabled toilet facilities are available.
Refreshments at "Daisy's":
Our volunteer team serves bacon rolls, cheese rolls and homemade soup (no soup June, July & August) until 2.15pm (subject to availability) and a range of delicious homemade cakes as well as hot and cold drinks until 30 minutes before closing time or until we sell out!
Guided tours leave from the croquet lawn twice on each open day, usually at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. If there are other attractions on then these times may change - check your "What's On" for futher information. Tours cost £1.50 per person and tickets are available on the gate or from the tea pavilion and the archive building.
We have a dedicated Children's Area near the Italian Garden where we offer some simple but fun wildlife activities for our younger visitors. There are also various crafts for children to do, most of these are free of charge although there may be a small charge for some activities. Donations for activities are gratefully receivied.
There is also a log trail for children to play on in the Children's Area.
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead and owners should come prepared to clean up after them! There are poop bags available at the Entrance Kiosk and bins for their disposal by the toilets and by the bins near the tea pavilion.
In order to allow access to residents and emergency vehicles, please note that car parking is not permitted along Park Road (the approach road to the Gardens). There is ample on-site parking so please follow the instructions of the stewards - thank you for your co-operation.
