It’s the time of year for taking cuttings and we’ve stopped counting the number that Roy has managed – lavenders for refreshing or replacing the lavender borders, rosemary for the dividers between the herb garden sections and penstemon for the Italian garden – it can be very difficult to source precisely the right colour for that!

The rainbow arc of dahlias in the walled kitchen garden have now grown hugely and are looking fantastic – with so many flowers that it took a large part of the day just deadheading them! And colour is returning to the Italian garden too – in good time for the September open day.

It was lovely to share this scene with Bishop’s Stortford Art Society and to see how their members captured it in their different styles.
