Fresh growth

It is an exciting time of year at the Gardens – full of promise for the season ahead!

Spring green is making way for summer colour, as we remove weeds and excess euphorbia and make way for fresh planting of additional helianthemums, kniphofia, geums and potentilla in the Italian garden.

The stumpery in the Glade is also being filled out with additional hellebores, primroses, ferns and foxgloves. Crabapple trees are covered in blossom and the thick and tortured walnut tree catkins and the paper handkerchiefs bring their own distinctive good looks.

In the walled Kitchen Garden the soft fruit are flowering in new fruitcages. Seedlings are coming through in profusion in the flower and herb borders.  And the Saturday volunteers have planted a huge range of vegetable seeds in beautiful neat rows.

Fabulous!
