This week Claire introduced new volunteers, Annie and Lynne, to the Mulberry tree, as part of their first tour of the Gardens and then they got down to work in the Italian Garden, digging up unwanted plants to make way for new ones.
Autumn/winter maintenance jobs are only just starting – the leaves have not yet fully fallen so remain on the ground and the tidying of shrubs hasn’t started in earnest. With the other jobs already planned, such as getting the back of the walled garden under control and renovating the viewing platform, there will be plenty to do to keep us warm as we work over the coming weeks. So, please do come and join us as volunteers now, or in the new year.
